Banishing Dry Winter Skin

Winter is just around the corner. We put away our swim suits, packed away our sunscreen, and sent our sweet Summer on its way. It was easy to swipe on some lip balm and run out the door in a pair of shorts but now we have to take extra measures to hold onto that glow. With no more sea salt washing away our impurities, exfoliation and extra moisture is crucial to prevent dull skin.

Brushes:

Exfoliating brushes are a great way to slough off dead skin cells which build up in the frigid air. Clarisonicsells a diverse line of brush heads for all skin types whether you’re acne prone, sensitive or need a deep scrub. For a more affordable version we like Olay Pro-X Microdermabrasion which comes with two different brush heads and can be used with any cleanser for a budget friendly.

Scrubs:

If you’re not ready to commit to a brush just yet, there are plenty of exfoliating scrubs you can work into your daily routine. Every skin care line has a product for your skin type so choose based on your sensitivity and how frequently you want to use it. Lush has a line with two types of exfoliating scrub which are perfect for regular use and wont irritate your skin. The first isRub Rub Rub advertised as a shower scrub which can be used for your entire body and leaves the essence of orange blossoms. For a more mild product with just as much punch try Lush’s Ocean Salt, a face and body scrub combined with coconut cream that leaves your skin silky and smelling amazing. Always follow with a moisturizer to soothe your polished pores.

Night Creams and Day Creams:

Yes, they are different! Night creams replenish the moisture lost during the day from facing the elements, holding onto make up, and washing our face. A night cream should be thicker than your regular face lotion to last while your face is touching the pillow. Aveeno is a brand known for all skin types, we like ositively Radiant Intensive Night Cream containing Vitamin B which evens skin tone and provides deep moisture all night long. Prep your skin in the morning with a day lotion containing SPF. Just because the summer heat is gone doesn’t mean the sun doesn’t dry out your skin. The rays reflecting off of snow during the winter can actually amplify the damaging effects.

Don’t forget plenty of lip balm to give your lips some extra protection, make sure it has SPF too! With a dusting of your favorite bronzer on your polished, prepped and moisturized skin, your face will look summer ready even as we approach the winter months.
